WHEN DID YOU BEGIN CULTIVATING YOUR PRACTICE?

I took my first asana class in summer of 2022 and was instantly hooked on the warm, floaty feeling that so many of us experience when we start to link breath and movement. Before long, I started to notice the deeper aspects of the practice showing up in my life. I’ve been curious ever since and learn something new about the practice, or myself, every time I step on my mat.

WHEN DID YOU BEGIN HELPING OTHERS CULTIVATE THEIR PRACTICE?

I helped to organize Cultivate’s first Community Kirtan in 2024, and began assisting at the studio during my teacher training in 2025.

HOW DO YOU ENVISION CULTIVATE YOGA SERVING OUR COMMUNITY?

“Gift-based yoga for all” is an incredible mission for making the practice of yoga more accessible for any community. Beyond the practice, though, so many people (including me) find a home and a real welcome at Cultivate. Authenticity is honored in a way that’s increasingly uncommon in our world. This is the quality that sets Cultivate apart from other studios and makes a real impact on the community.

WHAT HAS YOGA HELPED TO CULTIVATE WITHIN YOU?

Yoga has taught me stillness, awareness, acceptance, observation, patience. It brings me back to my creativity and curiosity. It helps me to accept and love myself as I am, and to extend that same love and acceptance to others.

BESIDES YOGA, WHAT IS ONE THING THAT CULTIVATES JOY IN YOUR LIFE?

Music has been my passion and purpose since I was a teenager, and like yoga, it’s a practice that teaches you something new every day, if you’re listening for it. Creative projects, especially those in collaboration with others, bring me unending fulfillment and joy.
