WHEN DID YOU BEGIN CULTIVATING YOUR PRACTICE?
I began studying and practicing yoga around 2002 at Oberlin College.
WHEN DID YOU BEGIN HELPING OTHERS CULTIVATE THEIR PRACTICE?
I started teaching in 2019 when Pop Life first opened their doors.
HOW DO YOU ENVISION CULTIVATE YOGA SERVING OUR COMMUNITY?
I envision Cultivate serving the wider community in Collinwood—both those who have migrated to Collinwood for the arts and the ethos, but also those who may have been in Collingwood for perhaps multiple generations and may be getting exposure to Yoga for the first time. I hope to see members of the immediate local community as well as people from farther afield coming into the studio sharing space and the creative spirit that makes Pop Life unique.
WHAT HAS YOGA HELPED TO CULTIVATE WITHIN YOU?
Yoga has been a lifeline for me, both is a private practice and as an experience shared in community. While I appreciated the impacts the practice made on my physical body, it is the more profound psychological aspects that have kept me coming back to my mat again and again. Connection to breath and cultivated mindfulness have helped anchor me through many stressful and challenging moments of my life.
BESIDES YOGA, WHAT IS ONE THING THAT CULTIVATES JOY IN YOUR LIFE?
In addition to the practicing Yoga, I am a contemporary dancer, great appreciator of music and the arts, and mother of two wonderful humans and many obliging houseplants.
