WHEN DID YOU BEGIN CULTIVATING YOUR PRACTICE?
I began my yoga practice in 2021 at the height of the pandemic initially as a means to improve my overall health and wellness. At that time I found it very difficult to manage raising my children in a safe space during such a chaotic time. I had this realization that "no one was coming to save us" and most everything was out of my control. This was the beginning of the "unraveling". In order to get through it, I began to understand that the changes needed to occur with mySELF.
WHEN DID YOU BEGIN HELPING OTHERS CULTIVATE THEIR PRACTICE?
My practice was solo, at home, until the end of 2023 when I learned it was time to find a community and share in this space. Even though I practiced at home, loved ones around me began to take notice of the changes I was making physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Some thought positively of it, others did not. The ones that thought in the former, wanted to know what I was doing differently and even asked about joining some online yoga classes/challenges/programs with me.
HOW DO YOU ENVISION CULTIVATE YOGA SERVING OUR COMMUNITY?
I envision the Cultivate community greatly expanding. Many people are starving for spaces for positive and uplifting interaction and community. Spaces of inclusivity/acceptance, healing, to nurture and elevate humanity. Yoga is a catalyst for this healing on a grand scale, and more and more people are beginning to realize this. In order for this to happen, more exposure needs to happen. With the rapid advancement of technology/AI, considering online offerings may be something to consider as well as ways to stay connected outside of attending classes or events in person. I really like the recent addition of Sunday community meditation via google meet. Maybe a podcast!?!?!
WHAT HAS YOGA HELPED TO CULTIVATE WITHIN YOU?
Yoga has helped to cultivate healing, love, courage, acceptance, compassion, discipline, and peace within me.
BESIDES YOGA, WHAT IS ONE THING THAT CULTIVATES JOY IN YOUR LIFE?
I have learned this later in life, but I get so much joy in adventure and trying new things- doing things that I once thought I couldn't do! Being in nature and raising my children 🩷
